STEM Visual Design students professionally decorate trailer for UA teamsVisual Design students at the National Inventor Hall of Fame STEM High School recently worked in collaboration with the University of Akron Concrete Canoe and Steel Bridge Teams.  The goal was to customize the teams’ old trailer with vinyl graphics and decals prior to leaving for regional competition at the Ohio State University.

STEM Visual Design students worked their "magic" on the computers using Adobe Illustrator to vectorize the sponsors' logos and other graphics; then used the classroom vinyl cutter to produce the graphics needed for the project.

Due to scheduling conflicts, the STEM students and University of Akron students were unable to decorate the trailer together.
Kay Dreslinski, Visual Art & Design Instructor at NIFH STEM High School, worked with approximately 10 University of Akron students after hours and taught them how to apply vinyl graphics to the trailer.  She reported that all were very excited to experience this new media and to personally be involved in "decorating" their Team Trailer.

Footnote:  On April 7-9, The University of Akron’s Concrete Canoe team placed first and the Steel Bridge team placed second in recent ASCE student competitions, qualifying both teams for national competition.  Thanks to the visual design students at STEM High School, they had one good looking trailer.
