APS entrepreneurship and marketing students compete in entrepreneurial competition.

Students from four APS high schools participated in an entrepreneurial competition named “Spark”.  Students were asked to produce a 60-90 second video representing their invention, philanthropic idea, or an improvement to an existing product.  Students also answered judges' questions about the inspiration for the idea, who or what is the target audience, and how the product or service be marketed.

Spark competitors were from Buchtel, East, Kenmore-Garfield and North High Schools.  Pathway business partners volunteered to serve as judges to review and rate the presentations.

First Place
North High School: (team) Amaree Clark and Nicholas Reese - Tale Tell Signs which would help high school staff identify and help students struggling with mental challenges.

Second Place
North High School: Sajan Ghaley -  Lifo an online service for high school graduates needing help with budgets, planning, and general ‘adulting’ activities.

North High School: Rozi Yar - Rentatech which provides rentals of quality video, audio and other equipment to complete high school and college projects.

Third Place
East CLC: (team) Mackenzie Ginstead and Ja Niyah Carter - Positivity Project places positive quotes and encouraging posters in school bathrooms to help develop and sustain a more positive atmosphere in high schools.

Kenmore-Garfield High School: Michael Hines - Gloves Up, Guns Down would provide a safe space for youth to gather to box, play basketball and have a space to release the tensions of life rather than resort to violence.

Buchtel CLC: Jamez Christian - EZ Robots youth would build and program small robots from kits that can perform stunts and minor tasks.

Students received scholarships from the Burton D. Morgan Entrepreneurship grant. The Burton D. Morgan Foundation champions the entrepreneurial spirit through various educational initiatives.
